Happenings...

Ben is getting so big!  At his 9 month checkup he is 18 lbs 4 oz and 27 1/2 inches long!  He gained 2 lbs and grew 2 1/2 inches since his last visit!  Way to go Ben!  He was not as happy when the nurse came back to give him his second flu shot and test him for RSV!

Getting ready to go out

Joey is having a great time at Pre-school.  He loves going in and tells me all about inside recess.  On Monday I got a chance to be there for the ice cream party and some fun activities.

Maybe?

We will get a full week of school?  And Olivia will be able to preform in her 1st grade program?  It would be nice to have some kind of schedule.  I think?

Playing...

Friday Sean got to enjoy a field trip with Johnny's 5th grade class.  They went to Kaufman Stadium where the Royals play.  It was educational and fun.  And Cold and snowy.

The Press Box

Ben had his first playdate as Jace got to come and play!  It was fun watching him get around, since Ben does not yet.  He scoots so cute!  Thanks Jace for coming over, we hope to see you again!

Johnny had basketball Friday night in a close game.  Then they met us at Joey's school for BINGO!  Lots of free eats and some prizes as well.  We got to see some great friends too!

Saturday Maddie has basketball.  The Shooting Stars won their second game!  Maddie scored 8 points.  She also had some amazing plays, I am so proud of her!  She then had to go a soccer game as well. Charlie's Angels played awesome, but they lost.  The girls were playing hard.

Sean and Johnny had another outing on Saturday, going to see the Harlem Globetrotters!  Johnny's basketball coach took the team and they really had a good time.  We have always said we wanted to see them!  Family movie night was in store for Saturday night.  Joey and Ben did not make it until the end, but everyone else enjoyed it!

Whew, thats a lot.  Sunday we spent inside.  Catching up and watching the football game.  The kids love the commercials.  Hope there is no snow this week!

Reece's Rainbow

There is an awesome Orphan Ministry called Reece's Rainbow.  http://reecesrainbow.org/  The children on this web site are available for adoption in many countries.  These wonderful people guide you through the adoption process.  All the children listed on this site are in orphanages and are all facing imminent institutionalization! The closer they get to the age of 4, the more dismal their hope is of being adopted at all. These are the children who do not have the "luxury" of sitting around and waiting to be chosen.

They are truly living on borrowed time.
The Meehan family has become Valentine Prayer Warriors for one precious child.  We will be praying for Caleb, born in November 2007.  He is a cutie!  We pray that Caleb finds his forever family.

From a missionary who visited with him in August 2010:  “  Caleb is extroverted, active and restless. He has a ready smile, enjoys playing with other children. He loves listening to music, watching cartoons. He is energetic and likes being outdoors!”
Join us in including Caleb in your prayers as well.  You can check out his grant fund here.

Blizzard.....

Today is Tuesday.  A school day.  There was no school.  It was our last snow day that was built into the school calendar.  About 3:30, we got the word there is no school tomorrow either!  There is a blizzard!
Here are some pictures:
Lots of Drifts from the winds

So we are home for another day tomorrow.  The good part is no waking up and getting everyone ready to catch the bus!  Hurrah!  And the other activities are cancelled as well that we always seem to have 2 of at the same times.

These are some pictures from the last snow day.  The kids went sleigh riding across the street.

And here we go again!

Looks like Kansas is in the middle of a huge storm.  Starting...NOW!  They just said on the news that the freezing rain has started. We are expecting a nice sheet of freezing rain that should lead to 10-13 inches of more snow!  Just yesterday we were commenting on how we can see the grass again.  Just Friday it was over 60 degrees!  Hmm...
Olivia and Debbie are both on antibiotics for strep throat.  Here's hoping that we do not pass it on to the three boys in the house that have not been inflicted with it yet, Johnny, Ben and Sean.  Being cooped up is not going to help us in killing those germies.
PJ days!

We finally had a full week of school last week!  I think its the first five day week since this year started.  Johnny and Maddie are wrapping up basketball seasons.  Its amazing to see how much they have learned!  Baseball/softball/t-ball is just around the corner.  Olivia is dancing dancing.. the first grade program is Tuesday (weather pending now).  Maddison has the second grade program in March and she got a speaking part!  Awesome!  Joey has been coming home with the funniest things from school lately.  He has been 'dancing'.  With the biggest smile, he break dances now.  I will try to catch it on film.  Johnny has been plugging along with the trumpet and his schoolwork.  The fifth grade is going to Kaufman stadium for a field trip this Friday.  Ben has been growing!  He is blowing raspberries and laughing at himself.  We have been working on sitting up.  He truly loves to be able to see everything that goes on.

Updates

Just wanted to put some updates out here.  Enjoy.

First is Johnny.  Johnny is 10 years old and in 5th grade already!  I cannot believe he will bein middle school next year!  Wow.  Johnny is caring and thoughtful when he wants to be.  He loves his baby brother Ben and always makes sure to say goodnight and good morning.  He is helpful to all his younger siblings.  Johnny is smart, top of his class!  This year he is taking the trumpet and so far enjoys it.  Johnny takes Karate all year.  Last week he was awarded his blue belt with a purple stripe, next stop, purple belt!  He has competed in two karate tournaments and won many medals and trophies.  Johnny is growing up to be a great person. I am so proud of him.

Maddison is 8 years old and in second grade this year.  Right now Maddie is playing baseketball and indoor soccer.  Maddie is a great girl!  She loves to make Ben smile with her faces, and smile he does when he sees her.  She is the first to volunteer to help.  She gives great hugs too!  Maddie is doing great in school this year as well.  She loves math and reading.  Maddie is a Brownie girl scout this year and enjoys all the activities.  Last weekend we spent at the Great Wolf Lodge water park with the GS.  Maddie had absolutely no fear about those water slides!  Maddie is getting very tall, almost as tall as Mom!  Maddison is so very ticklish.  I love her giggles when she is being tickled.  Maddison is growing up too fast for me!  I am so very proud of the girl that she is.

Olivia is so precious.  She is our girly girl, who would wear a dress every single day.  She loves to read and play with her dolls and the new puppy she got from Santa.  Olivia is taking Tap, Ballet and acrobatics this year.  She will be in the recital come June and loves to be on stage.  She has no front teeth on top right and and her smile is priceless.  She is a very sensitive girl, very caring and loving.  She dotes on her younger brothers.  She is often found helping others at school as well.  Olivia has one of the biggest hearts I know.  She is so sweet!  Olivia is 6 years old and in first grade.  She loves riding the school bus and getting her nails painted.  I love that Olivia is original and does things her way.  You can always hear her singing as well. I am so proud of the loving giving person that Olivia is.

Joey is 4 years old and goes to preschool.  Joey is all boy!  He loves playing with his trucks and action figures.  He loves bowling and playing on the Wii.  He is very smart, and comes out with the funniest things.  A couple of weeks ago Joey got down on one knee and asked Mommy to marry him.  She said yes, he got up and turned and said, I will get you a ring too.  So sweet!  Joey loves to kick the soccer ball and is looking forward to playing T-ball this spring.  Joey has the cutest smile and loves to get down on the floor with Ben and talk to him.  He is a great big brother!  Joey is growing fast!  Joey loves to run around and rough house.   I am proud of Joey for being a great big brother and son!

Ben is 8 months old and growing growing!  He is 2 1/2 ft long and 17lbs!  Ben eats cereal and fruits and vegetables as well as his bottles.  He loves to put everything in his mouth.  He has two teeth that really want to come in on the bottom.  Ben is working hard at learning to sit up by himself.  He loves to be on his tummy and has recentlystarted to push himself up with his hands,  I think he is trying to crawl!  He loves to be upright, not lying down.  Ben loves his siblings and just lights up when they come into the room!  Ben talks to them and interacts, if only we knew what he was saying!  Ben is just a calm and easy baby, loves to smile and be talked to.
Thanks for reading this really long post.  I wanted to let everyone know what great kids we have and how proud I am of all of them!

Snow Days!

Had a fun day Monday out in the snow. It was very very windy and cold on  Tuesday, we stayed inside.  So far for 2011, that is 2 snow days!

Everyone on the sled!
Ben was not so sure about the white stuff falling from the sky.  He did have his tongue out trying to get some. He stayed up for the pictures Mommy wanted then promptly fell asleep.

Hmmmm....
We did some sledding in the front of the house.  The snow was too fluffy for a snowman.  They also helped Dad with the shoveling.

Olivia not sure with her pink sled.

Maddie got the hang of it quickly.

Joey waiting for a push.
We also tried a snowball fight, but it was not good snow.  Thanks for the great sleds Grammy and Grandpa!

Posing....

Trying to get the snow to stay together.

Mid throw....
The kids have asked all night about school Wednesday.  They know when the TV has those words going across the bottom, something is closed.
As of 9:30pm, we are in session!
